Pre-Running Notice
Pre-running is a privilege, not a right. The only reason we’re allowed to do it is because it’s low speed, low impact, and doesn’t require constant monitoring. If we screw that up, it goes away. Simple as that.
A few reminders to keep everyone safe and keep us in good standing with the land managers and local community:
- This is NOT a race: 35mph max. Low speed. Take it easy. Pre-running is about learning the course, not setting lap records.
- Paved & Major Road Crossings. It is mandatory to STOP at all paved and major road crossings during pre-running.
- Stay on the marked course. Period. The Parker race course crosses BLM land and Arizona State Trust land. Do not deviate from the course for any reason. No shortcuts. No detours. No “just real quick.”
- You may encounter other people on course. That includes other racers, recreational users, ranchers, and locals. Slow down, give space, and be respectful.
- Cattle are out there. This is open grazing land. If you see cows, slow way down and do your best to avoid them. Hitting livestock is bad for everyone involved and puts our event at risk.
- Leave no trace. Pack it in, pack it out. No trash. No tearing up new ground. No nonsense.
Bottom line: We want to keep pre-running going, but that only happens if we prove we can be smart about it. The land managers trust us because historically our racers have done the right thing. Let’s keep it that way.
We appreciate all of you and the respect you show for the land, the community, and each other.
